Blue whales are very special to me. I have admired them most of my life. To me, they symbolize both strength and peace. They are the largest extant animal and their numbers are diminishing. Before whaling there were approximately 239,000 whiles in the oceans. A 2002 report estimated there were 5,000-12,000 left world wide.
